Stop Holding Back The Truth!
"There are many of us who were forced or pressured as children or young adults to protect the wrong actions of others by keeping what I call "dark secrets." They're not the same as keeping private or harmless information between family members or friends. The secrets I'm speaking of protect the guilty while their innocent victims suffer for years or perhaps the rest of their lives. It causes the same sins or crimes to be perpetuated over and over again on ourselves or others because the truth is shoved into a dark closet.
Are you a secret keeper? It doesn't matter if you kept your secret as a child or as an adult. Keeping dark secrets will bring you harm in a multitude of ways we don't always notice until they begin to chip away at our lives and cause us to live beneath the blessings God has make available to us. They make us self-centered and therefore unable to be a full, loving Christian.
Would you like to fix the damage your secrets have caused you? If the answer is yes, I would like to help you walk out of the darkness of your situation and into the light of the truth. It will take courage and the desire to be free of the bondage keeping secrets have brought you. You will have to choose in many cases between the truth and a loved one. You may be branded as a trouble maker and a liar and that might cause you to separate forever with the persons you're protecting, but you didn't commit their sins, they did and they will only harm you more by treating you badly and without respect. In some cases, your silence is perpetuating their crimes.
How much pain and or damage has keeping a secret(s) caused you? Even as an adult, the price of hiding the truth is steep. Wouldn't you like to be free? I can tell you with all confidence that the person or person's you're protecting certainly don't love or care about you, so put yourself above the troubled life your "dark secrets" have cause you and do what your heart has been begging you to do. Tell someone who cares or who can help you stop the *criminal behaviors that may be continuing to this day. If you can't do that, then fix the damage done to your life, and live in the joy and prosperity of Jesus Christ. You should not live in fear or guilt.
